Preston Elite RaceOne of the most popular town centre circuit cycle races is coming to Preston, Lancashire, on Sunday August 7 as the eagerly anticipated fifth and final round of the thrilling British Cycling Elite Circuit Race Series rolls into town. The free to watch day of action starts at 10am with a series of youth races and a family ride, and with the British Cycling Womens National Circuit Race Championships as a prelude to the Elite riders who take to the course at 1.30pm for the deciding round of this exhilarating series.

The Rapha Condor-Sharp squad has so far dominated the series (with the notable exception of the series opener in Otley which was won by Scott Thwaites of Team Endura), and it looks highly likely that they could take four for five in Preston. The team’s Dean Downing, Dean Windsor and Graham Briggs currently hold the top three positions in the series and Sunday’s final will be the decider for the overall series winner.

Councillor Peter Rankin, Leader of Preston City Council, says: “The Grand Prix is a hugely important fixture in Preston’s event and sporting calendar, and it is a delight to welcome world class athletes to the city once again.”
