Introducing Rapha Condor… JLT

JLT sponsor Rapha Condor - Rapha Condor JLTThe Rapha Condor Continental Cycling Team has today announced a new sponsorship deal with the JLT Group. Previous co-headline sponsor Sharp, who had been involved with the team for three and a half years, had recently announced their own plans to concentrate efforts at World Tour level (with Garmin-Sharp) leaving the way clear for JLT, an international group of Risk Specialists and Employee Benefits Consultants. 2013 will mark the sixth season that Rapha Condor has sponsored a British UCI registered team and the partnership with JLT is said to underline the team’s commitment to the future of British cycling, as the team continues to focus on its goal of developing young British talent.

Speaking on behalf of Rapha Condor, Grant Young of Condor cycles said, ‘I can’t wait for the 2013 to start, this is the next chapter in an exciting adventure for British cycle sport and the team. I am pleased we can work with another sponsor who understands our approach, ethics, passion for developing the sport from the grass roots up to the sky.’ Team manager John Herety added, ‘I am delighted that JLT share our enthusiasm about the way that this team aims to work with young riders. JLT understood this very quickly and they recognised that in the current environment in cycling a team like ours will educate young riders into making the correct choices.’

Rapha Condor Ramp up for 2013

Rapha Condor, Ed ClancyIn addition to retaining the services of two of their brightest stars – World Team Pursuit Champion and Olympic Gold Medalist Ed Clancy and Tour of Britain King of the Mountains Kristian House – Rapha Condor have continued to commit to developing young talent with the signing of four new riders. Hugh Carthy and Will Stephenson, who recently finished first and second in the Junior Tour of Wales, both join directly from the Junior ranks; whilst former Irish U23 TT champion Aaron Buggle will bring experience in international stage races and Elliot Porter promises great things not least as he is the son of double Olympian Maria Blower-Porter and Norwegian former pro Jaanus Kuum.

Commenting on 2012’s successes and looking ahead to the coming season, Team manager John Herety, said, ‘Most of the riders we took on last year hadn’t even been part of a team environment, and some had come straight out of the Juniors, so we had to go right back to the basics. When I look at the performances in that light it gives me a great deal of satisfaction to see what we have achieved. I am looking forward to seeing what this group will be able to do next year.’

As it currently stands the 2013 Rapha Condor line up will be: Aaron Buggle, Hugh Carthy, Ed Clancy, Mike Cuming, Felix English, Luke Grivell-Mellor, Richard Handley, Kristian House, James McCallum, Elliot Porter and Will Stephenson.
