Gran Fondo Challenge Sri LankaThe first-ever UCI World Cycling Tour (UWCT) to be held in Asia is set for Sri Lanka, April 5 – 7. The UWCT is intended to be a ‘cycling for all’ series with riders from across the world participating in events – both road and time trial – which sees the top 25% of each age category qualifying for the September UWCT Final, the Amateur World Championships in Italy. The inaugural UWCT Asia race in Sri Lanka, also the first UWCT race in the 2013 calendar, is a rare opportunity for all amateur cyclists to compete in a world-class cycling race and test their mettle against a field anticipated to be close to 500, including upwards of 200 local individual and club cyclists. The Sri Lankan event is set to comprise of three days of racing; road, time-trial and criterium.
