Brompton World Championships 2013

Brompton World Championships 2013Registration is now open for the Brompton World Championships 2013 along with the other events that make up the ‘Brompton Treble’. The 8th Brompton World Championships, the biggest folding bike race in the world, and the accompanying Brompton Eliminator and Brompton Sprint have a new home for 2013 at the Orbital Cycling Festival (Goodwood Motor Circuit ,July 27-28) moving from its traditional venue of the Bike Blenheim Palace Festival of Cycling.

 

The move to Goodwood promises increased spectator capacity and in excess of 1,000 Brompton riders taking to the track; whilst the World Championships are now in their 8th year and the Brompton Sprint is in its 2nd, the Brompton Eliminator is a new event for 2013, with entry restricted to those wishing to take part in the complete Brompton Treble. The Sprint and Eliminator, both heats and finals, will take place on Saturday July 27 and the World Championships on Sunday July 28.

 

Gavin Morton, world champion contender (and second and third place runner up in 2011 and 2012 respectively) comments on the new venue, ‘I am looking forward to the challenge of a new course, I’m sure there will be some surprises as everyone adapts to the fast paced circuit; it will be great to finish in front of the grandstand too. I’ve never managed to get a look in on the best dressed prize, so I’m definitely going to have to up my game on that front this year!’
