A new website, UK Cycling Accommodation (ukcyclingaccommodation.co.uk), launched this week which aims to provide information about cycling-friendly B&Bs, guesthouses, self catering properties, pubs, campsites and hotels. Unlike some listing sites, UK Cycling Accommodation will seek to be selective about those that advertise – a decision intended to benefit both cyclists searching for only the best places to stay and those looking to detail their properties.
In part this is an umbrella site for longer established portals such as somersetcyclingbandb.co.uk and although not yet all-encompassing – the south-west and north-east are currently best represented – it’s to be commended as an on-going project to help us get the best out of our hard-pedalled, long-planned cycling holidays. Of particular note is that cycle routes near to booked accommodation can be provided along with custom-cycle routes for Garmin download. Early days for the site, but with time and support it could certainly grow into a serious contender.
