York Bike Belles, York’s cycling community for women, is currently running a scheme called ‘3 women 3 bikes 3 months’ designed to inspire more women to combine travel and exercise. Three local women, Mandy Chambers, Suzanne Dickinson and Sarah Swallow, – all new or newly returning to cycling – have been given bikes and asked to blog about their cycling experiences over a three-months period.
Whilst all three women were keen to give cycling a go they all had their individual concerns. Mandy, who wants to lose weight, is worried about the traffic on York’s roads; Suzanne is worried about a long-standing back injury, whilst Sarah hasn’t cycled for over 20 years and is concerned about her level of fitness.
Sheridan Piggott, Coordinator for York Bike Belles says: ‘Mandy, Suzanne and Sarah have been asked to be honest about the highs and lows of their journey into cycling over the next three months. If you are thinking about getting into cycling in York, do check out their Blog and see how they get on. You never know, it may give you just the inspiration you need to get into cycling yourself!’
