Bauge Ban

Gregory Bauge has been stripped of his individual sprint world title by the UCI after the French track cyclist received a backdated suspension from his home-nation federation in response to a missed drugs test and ‘violation of rules governing rider availability for drug tests.’ Although the suspension was initially backdated to December 23, 2010 (and expiring on December 22, 2011) the UCI has now decided that all of Bauge’s results for the duration will be void – this includes two world title-winning races. It is still unclear where this will leave the other team and competitor results.

However, as the suspension was backdated, Bauge will now be clear for competition at the London Games and having helped his team to silver in the Team Sprint at the Beijing Olympics he is considered a dangerous challenge to Team GB.
