This all girls’ cycling club was set up in 2008 to encourage women to take part in and enjoy road cycling; with more than 100 members this, their annual women only sportive, should do wonders to attract even more. With a start/end HQ at Bewl Water (map here) and a push-off time of 9-9.30am, there are three distances on offer: 20 miles (230m climb), 40 miles (459m) and 60 miles, known as ‘a brute of a route’, with 723m of ascent. Entry fees are £25 including a donation to the Breast Cancer Campaign and with goody bag and event t-shirt for all participants. There are also a series of Go-ride events for (supervised) children taking place whilst the main action unfolds…
Although trailed as a ‘women only event’ chaps are welcome too, but must either wear pink or pay a £100 supplement to the Breast Cancer Campaign – a worthy cause and fantastic looking Kentish sportive. For further information and entry details see: www.kentvelogirls.co.uk
