Surrey Legs of Steel. August 17

Legs of SteelMore completely known as “Surrey Legs of Steel: Dave Aitchison Challenge Ride” this dual-distance sportive – 81km and 46km –  is in memory of champion triathlete Dave Aitchison who died suddenly in January 2007 aged 29 from an undetected heart defect. Both distances start and end at Box Hill National Trust Park, near Dorking, Surrey (map here) between 8.00 and 9.00 and include drinks/feed stations, mech support, sweepers and individual times. The longer distance includes some 1600m of ascent and the shorter 1020m – enter fee is £25 with all profits from the event will go towards a Sports Aid Fund set up in Dave’s name by his family and the club to assist talented tri-athletes in the London region.
