A sure and welcome sign of the rise in popularity of cycling in the UK as the BBC announces it will broadcast seven hours of live coverage from the Track World Cup, which takes place in Glasgow, November 16-18. With all available tickets reportedly selling out for the event in less than 30minutes of going on sale, the BBC’s scheduling will come as a relief to cycling fans who will be able to watch the action from the new Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome across both BBC1, BBC2 and via the Red Button services. Additional radio coverage will come via BBC Five Live Sports Extra.
‘It’s fantastic that the BBC have increased broadcast coverage for the Track Cycling World Cup,’ commented Jonny Clay, Cycle Sport and Membership Director of British Cycling, ‘Cycling is at an all-time high since London 2012 so people can get to enjoy watching more international cycling action. As the event is now a sell-out, we are now focused on preparing to deliver a great event for those attending or watching it at home.’
